NASA offers a walk on the moon in a virtual 4K tour

Humanity is actively preparing to return to the development of the natural satellite of our planet, and, like half a century ago, a new round of popularization of this direction begins. NASA has prepared a beautiful and capacious video review of the latest studies of the lunar surface and the wonders that are there. 4K video is available to everyone.

The tour is based on the results of observations of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter station, which has been studying the Moon since 2009. Thanks to them, they managed to prove that the lunar surface is not dead and deserted, it is a dynamic, complex world that is fraught with many potential discoveries. The viewer will travel 2500 km from the South Pole and Aitken Basin to the Taurus-Littrow Valley, the site of the historic landing of the Apollo 17 mission.

One of the side tasks of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter project was to find suitable locations for the construction of the first permanent bases on the Moon. Candidate # 1 - Shackleton Crater, where the instruments recorded the presence of ice, that is, frozen water. It is an invaluable resource at such a distance from Earth, which will be useful in all processes, from growing cucumbers in hydroponics to the production of rocket fuel.

The main idea behind the virtual moon tour is that we humans are back! And not abstractly, but on a wide front, because before building something capital on a space object, an army of research robots will be sent there. And it is possible that today's schoolchildren, who are at a crossroads when choosing a profession, will tomorrow become machine operators who will prepare a place for their children to live on the moon.
