Swedish company OceanSky has opened seat reservations for future cruise flights to the North Pole in a passenger airship. The first commercial flights will take place in 2023-2024, the service price is $ 65, 000 for a double cabin. Seven crew members and sixteen guests are expected to embark on the first cruise.
The flight will take place on a hybrid airship model Airlander-10, which has a very low flying qualities. In particular, the maximum payload, including the people themselves and food for them, is only 10-11 tons, so you won't be able to take much with you. Therefore, the duration of the cruise is short.
On the other hand, OceanSky cruises simply have no competition, and therefore are positioned as exclusive entertainment for adults. There are very few airships in the world capable of carrying passengers, and so far there are no airships flying to the North Pole at all. Hence the high ticket price - for access to the elite club. However, there is one more nuance: in the conditions of a raging pandemic, traveling by airship to remote corners of the planet is seen as a good alternative to solitude in a private mansion.
