DARPA develops RACE - an anonymous mobile communication system for everyone

DARPA is developing an anonymous, hacker-proof mobile communications system, RACE, that can operate in a congested network environment. Development will run from March 2019 to 2023.

RACE is a public, anonymous, fault-tolerant system. It will involve cryptography and entangled communication. DARPA plans to integrate RACE into Android mobile messaging and system node software applications. In addition, the agency will explore the capabilities of RACE to deal with DDoS attacks.

Upon completion of development, the prototype of the system will be tested by 1000 users on 1000 servers. According to DARPA representatives, the outgoing client-server connection will have a throughput of 500 Kbps, and the exchange rate between servers will reach 10 Mbps.
