Bridgestone Unveils Airless Bicycle Tires

Renowned tire manufacturer Bridgestone, a Japanese corporation, has partnered with its own Bridgestone Cycle division to develop bicycle tires without traditional compressed air tubes.

The design of the new tires is based on the concept of airless car tires called AirFree, introduced back in 2011. The function of the rubber chambers in this case is performed by the spokes with a unique structure, made with the addition of a special resin.

A bicycle with such wheels is not afraid of punctures. In addition, the airless tires provide excellent shock absorption for a comfortable ride. According to the developers, the concept may open up new ways of cycling, and will also be used to create tires for other types of transport.
