One of the concepts - WatchSense technology has already successfully passed laboratory tests.
The main goal is to move the sensitive sensor unit outside the watch case. Firstly, so as not to obscure the picture on the screen with your own fingers, and secondly, because a priori there is more space around and there is no need to pile up virtual buttons on top of each other. WatchSense does not have them at all, but there is a grid of coordinates for moving the fingers around them. And it is three-dimensional.
The control principle is based on the use of a 3D depth sensor, which is attached to the wrist of one hand. The fingers of the second move relative to him and fold into gestures, which the system recognizes. There is a grid of coordinates, there is a position of the pointing finger - to interpret this as a specific command is already a matter of technology. WatchSense developers have increased the space for entering commands with a graceful gesture, cleverly "curing" the childhood disease of smart watches.
For now, the WatchSense device functions by itself and needs to be connected to the target signal receiver separately. The technology allows you to easily copy the entire range of commands used in Android versions of wrist gadgets. And go further by adding interface elements for augmented reality systems, which will be a colossal reserve for the future. And integrating the sensor into the smartwatch itself is just a matter of investment and time.
